OLD HOMESCHOOLERS NEVER DIE . . . THEY JUST WRITE CURRICULUM

"Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew,
like showers on new grass,
like abundant rain on tender plants."

Deuteronomy 32:2

Courses of Study

To view the Course of Study for each grade level, you can click on the "Course of Study" label
or "Search This Blog" for the specific grade level you wish to see.
To date, I have courses of study completed for kindergarten through fourth grades.

Newsletter Articles

In 2013 the Lord started me producing a newsletter for the homeschool group we are a part of. Every other month I write an article on a topic the Lord has put on my heart. I've decided to add these articles to this blog. I hope you will find encouragement through some of my ramblings. You can click on the label "Newsletter" to find the articles.

Fourth Grade, Reading, Set One

Little House Series
  • We read Little House in the Big Woods, doing some activities from Little House in the Classroom after most chapters. When we completed the book we went through the discussion questions and completed the Then and Now section in Little House in your Classroom.
  • The Then and Now activity was to write down what the Ingalls family ate and where they got the food and then to write down what we eat and where we get the food.
Mystery-Fold
  • I showed K. the Birthday Party story
  • The following day she performed it for me
  • The next day she did it for some friends
Tall Tales
  • I read Five Fathoms Tall / Stormalong from American Tall Tales by Adrien Stoutenburg
  • K. read the short story about Stormalong in Teaching Tall Tales
  • Geography
    • We figured a route for Stormalong to sail from Maine to Italy to India to Australia to China to Russia and back to Maine
    • Introduced "water words" by giving clues and definitions for K. to find the place on a map
  • Art
    • K. scratched a picture in a bar of soap and then colored it in with paint
